How this calculator works
Use this for forward planning: you know a start time and a duration, and need the finish or arrival time. A task starting at 23:00 that takes 3 hours finishes at 02:00, the next day.
The result is a time of day, not a dated timestamp, so it reports the 24-hour time, its 12-hour equivalent, and a day-relation label — Same day, Next day, or a count of days later — instead of attaching a calendar date. Complete 24-hour days wrap to the same time of day: 09:00 plus 26 hours still returns 11:00, one day later.
This page is fixed to addition for a faster forward-planning workflow. Need to switch between adding and subtracting the same inputs in place? Use the Time Calculator instead.
The tool is arithmetic only. Where legal, payroll, holiday, timezone or jurisdiction-specific rules matter, the page states what is and is not included.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if the result passes midnight?
The clock wraps forward to the next day, such as 23:00 plus 3 hours = 02:00 — the labeled day relation always shows which day the result lands on, not just the wrapped time.
Can I add more than 24 hours?
Yes. The hours field accepts whole durations beyond 24 hours. Complete 24-hour days wrap to the same time of day, so 09:00 plus 26 hours returns 11:00, one day later.
Does the result include a calendar date?
No. This page returns a clock time only, not a dated timestamp. Use the labeled day relation shown with the result to track how many days the addition crossed.
How do I switch to subtracting instead?
Use the Time Calculator, which combines addition and subtraction with an operation selector on the same inputs — this page stays fixed to addition for a quicker forward-planning workflow.
