How this calculator works
Enter the date you're counting down to and the calculator reports how many whole calendar days remain, compared against today's local date — for a deadline, renewal, or event that's approaching rather than one you're scheduling from a fixed offset.
The countdown result also names the target's weekday and ISO date, breaks the remaining time into full weeks plus leftover days, and lays out a calendar view spanning today and the target month — enough to see exactly which weekday the deadline falls on at a glance.
Once the target date passes, this same page keeps working — it reports how many days ago it happened instead of how many remain. If tracking elapsed time from an already-past date is your main task, the Days Since Calculator leads with that framing from the start.
The tool is arithmetic only. Where legal, payroll, holiday, timezone or jurisdiction-specific rules matter, the page states what is and is not included.
Frequently asked questions
What if I enter a date in the past?
The result makes clear that the date has already passed and shows how many days ago it occurred.
Does the countdown include today?
No — a target date of today shows 0 days until, and tomorrow shows 1 day until. The count uses whole calendar-day boundaries, the same convention this site's other date tools use.
Can I copy or export the countdown?
Yes — "Copy result" copies a text summary, and "Download calendar file (.ics)" adds the target date to a calendar app so the deadline shows up alongside your other events. Nothing is saved on our side either way.
